Fridays 12th, 19th and 26th May
Want to learn how to change an idea into a repeat design for printing fabric? This course will teach you how to do just that.
Week 1: Learn how to take an idea and alter it into a repeat design. Week 2: Transfer and carve your image on a lino block.
Week 3: Print your repeat design on to a length of fabric for a scarf or table runner.
During the course, you’ll also be introduced to various mark-making techniques to create linear and positive and negative effects before working on your chosen design. Working with fabric printing inks, test prints will be made by both hand printing and using the printing press.
Take home your paper designs, carved block and your printed fabric, along with the know-how to continue printing at home.
Please feel free to bring along any ideas you’re working on to fit on an A5 size lino block (10x15cm) or be inspired by visuals provided during the workshop.
